10.3 Sample Teaching Trial

Prepare the teaching materials. Arrange the stimuli and secure the child’s attention. Present the instruction and immediately provide the prompt that was required in the probe trial for that particular target, unless no prompt was required. If no prompt was required for this target in the probe trial, then allow the learner up to 3 seconds to respond to the instruction. Remember to provide praise and tangible reinforcers immediately (within 1 second) following the correct response, even if that response was prompted.
