When Ms. Sullivan answered the non-technical questions, you gained a sense that the function of Lucas’s aggression was escape and avoidance. This then leads to more diagnostic investigation that reveals that Lucas has a specific learning disability and could not do the work. The teacher’s mentalistic diagnosis more likely resulted in Lucas’s lack of learning and a challenging experience for all.
