9.6 Multiple Exemplar Training Example: Imitation

For example, the little girl who imitates her brother learned to do that through multiple exemplar training. She was given multiple opportunities to make the response in a given context. The context was her brother saying “do this” and doing something. The brother wanted her to imitate him when he said “do this” no matter what he was doing. So exactly what he did each time was irrelevant, and he did different things. But the condition for obtaining reinforcement was the same each time. As long as she imitated her brother’s behavior, he praised her.
