But if the treatment data look like this, they are different. In this case, the slope is similar, but the level is higher. So, in this second example, the actual treatment data are different from what we predicted and this IS a basic effect.

Are the actual treatment data DIFFERENT than what you would have predicted, given the baseline data?

Estimate the baseline slope

Extend that line into the treatment phase

Evaluate whether the slope or level of the actual treatment data are different from what you predicted
